That gray mat Ella is on top of is actually heated. I bought it a year ago and Ella has slept on nothing else since. Even in the summer, she likes the warmth this little mat generates at 4 watts.
At 13, Ella still acts like a kitten - she truly prefers playing with her food to eating eating it. She's just as agile and athletic as ever. The only way you can tell she's getting old is by looking at her eyes. Her irises are getting that "wrinkled" look that older cats get and she's getting pigment changes in her right eye. Completely normal - nothing to worry about - just the only signs that show that Ella is now a senior.
