there's a hole in my drain ...
Canon EOS 6D - f/5.6 - 1/100sec - 102mm - ISO 200
Last months I had an increasingly problem with standing waste water of the toilets and sinks in my home. As vinegar, soda and suction plungers didn't help, I called a professional plumber.
He cleaned all sewer drain pipes from my house to the road.
No heavy clogging was found, but the problem stayed.
Now the plumber did inspect the inside of the drains with a long cable with light and a camera at the front.
Nothing spectacular was found. Only one place, where the bottom of the drain had standing water over it, was suspect because some cracks in the side wall.
After digging a hole of about 1 meter deep, the drain was located and also the cause of everything was detected.
A year earlier a fiber optic cable was installed (for internet, tv, telephone). From the road to my house this installation was not done by open trenching, but with an underground pneumatic missile.
This missile had cracked the underside of my head drain to the road and caused a hole of about 25 x 6 cm.
For more understanding see also the picture in the first comment !
Everything is fixed now - I can use my toilet again without nasty surprises ;-) - and with the photo's as proof, the costs were paid by the local community.
To make the smelly ;-) picture a bit more attractive, I used some photoshop tricks.
