Details and History

The Library of Congress website offers a multitude of historical images, many with no known restrictions on use. This image is from the early 20th century American Colony stereograph titled East of the Jordan and Dead Sea. Front view of the ruins of Mashita [i.e., Mshatta].

 

The ruins of castle Qasr Mshatta (قصر المشتى‎, "Winter Palace"), near Amman, Jordan, date to the eighth century. The Mshatta Facade, an important example of early Islamic architecture and art, currently resides in Berlin.
