Can't say I've had a great deal of luck with my attempts to get a shot or two at Hest Bank, the only location where the WCML runs close to the sea.
My first attempt a few years ago drew a blank when the wires came down near Lancaster resulting in all traffic being cancelled on that occasion. This time returning from a weekend away I thought I would try again - The weather wasn't much to get excited about with light drizzle being the order of the day and the traction wasn't either. The WCML appeared to be closed north of Carnforth for the morning, but I did at least time my arrival to coincide with the hourly Northern service to Barrow. Third time lucky perhaps...?
195123 gets a few seconds of sea air as it passes the disused 1958 built signal box with the 1C52 Manchester Airport to Barrow on Sunday 22nd May 2022.
