Ive travelled worldwide looking for interesting buses whilst on holidays but always come back to Scotland at least once a year. This is the Highland outstation at Kyle in September 2000 with breathtaking views over the inner sound to Isle of Skye, Scalpay & Raasay. Highland added buses to the fleet in a very shrewed way often buying what no-one else wanted from various sources including the auctions at Manchester. In Scotland contracts often fit different vehicles & types, Sandy understood this well and despite the resistance from some, grew Highland into a success in very difficult conditions & operating areas. The buses from L-R are Bristol VR BKE832T which started life Maidstone before passing into Arriva ownership and North to Scotland and i believe is now preserved. Leopard WFS152W in the latest Rapson blue started life with Fife scottish before moving to Highland when quite new, it also saw life after Highland with Whitelaws who purchased a large batch of these buses in another good deal by Highland ( sometimes you have to buy what you dont want, to get what you do ! ). The blue & grey leopard is GCS52W which was new to Western SMT and then the VR on the right is RAN645R which was new to the Atomic Energy Research Establishment in a blue & grey livery. This was later transferred to Dounreay and then Highland acquired the vehicle along with sister 644. It was later scrapped although some of the batch new to AERE do survive elsewhere.

If i had a choice here and i was just starting for the day i think i would take WFS...Bristol VRs didn't belong in Scotland and i preferred the small side windows in the Y type rather than the panoramic bigger ones in GCS, along with the fact WFS is in the super two tone blue which suits the body like no other livery.
