There, and Gone! No. 3 turbine
This is what was Number 3 turbo/generator inside the old Union Carbide Metals Division Powerhouse outside Marietta Ohio. The plant ended operations in the winter of 2010 and presently the building is being demolished. This is a before and after comparison showing the beginning of its removal, and the empty hole where the foundation sits. No. 3 was the last machine that was synchronized and placed in service before taken down a few days later. Although I retired from this plant in the fall of 2007, I was called in to help after many workers had moved on, and happened to be the fellow who placed her online, at 4:55am November 6, 2010, for the last time.
I took the left shot in October 2012 and the right photo in December. All four units were cut up for scrap.
