Coxed Four Practice

A Women's coxed Four heading downriver during practice on the Muskingum River in Marietta Ohio. Take notice of the rower's arm positions. The gal in the stroke seat (in front of the coxswain) still has the handle tucked inside just above her lap while the girls behind have both arms fairly extended. This is the hardest part of a stroke; recovering the blade from the water after the stroke and changing direction. Timing is critical and when the rowers are out of synch it greatly affects the efficiency of the boat. Like other crews, this boat will greatly improve each time they take to the water.
