Homegrown Plum Conserves
Malcolm discovered that he could make delicious conserves from our junk plum tree's bounty with just a couple of tablespoons of sugar and a tinch of water. I added some zest from our lemon tree, so we are living off the land. The hardest part was scooping out all of the pits that rose to the surface as we cooked it. We added the sugar halfway through the cooking, and the zest more towards the end. We stopped cooking it when it was still a little soupy, and then it became thicker as it cooled.
