The Rail Bus - Netherlands - Simpelveld
A set railcars (Duwag) of the first deliveries with top front roof windows has just arrived from Aachen (Aix la Chapelle) and after a stop at the boarder station (custom clearance) will continuing to Maastricht. This service was done by the DB (Deutsche Bundesbahn - German Federal Railways). A fine view of the infrastructure with in the background a steam locomotive with a goods train meaning this picture must be taken somewhere in the fifties, near the end of that era (1957) steam was abandoned in the Netherlands, or it’s a German engine waiting for depart. Not before the seventies steam ceased operating in Germany. These days this is all heritage line property (ZLSM) and still in use even the spur towards Germany although without further connection on the other side of the boarder (Vetchau). ZLSM stands for: Zuid-Limburgse Stoomtrein Maatschappy - Steam Train Company of South Limburg, a province in the Netherlands.
