Enemies of Atlantis: Tauri

"The Tauri are a devious and malicious confederation of people dwelling on the great steppes and plains to the north-east of Morcia. Due to the Mountains of Ulric seperating their realms from the more civilised nations, these are a highly savage and barbaric people to whom war is a second nature. Every day is a struggle for survival on the great plains and only the most fit, strong, brutal and ruthless individuals survive.

The name of this people is a reference to the eponymous animal, the bull, whose crest decorates the shields of the Tauri warriors. Their precise relation with the animal is unknown, but several merchants passing through their realm, coming West, have brought with them dreaded tales of wicked creatures residing in caves throughout the steppe. These creatures are said to have the body of a man, combined with the head and legs of a bull. Most likely, the Tauri savages look up to the gory acts perpetrated by these daemonic creatures and therefore choose to emblazon their shield with an image of one, hoping they will be granted the same inhuman strength as the Minotauri in battle.

Battle is all these people know. The several tribes fight amongst themselves, trying to capture precious horses, cattle or conquer new lands for there warherds to graze upon. Next to themselves, Orcs are the most common enemy for them to fight. After being driven from the West, dozens of Orcish tribes sought refuge in the inhospitable places in the East.

Slavery is one of the most lucrative bussineses for a Tauri tribesman. Often, they raid each other, trying to capture slaves to sell in the West. Sometimes, the most daring chieftains even cross the mountains and spill into neighbouring lands, wreaking havoc and destruction."
