SP 9792 GP60 CHPBM Iles 5-12-96
On May 12, 1996, SP GP60 9792 leads a Kodachrome tunnel motor on train CHPBM at Iles Interlocker in Springfield. In this view you can easily see the new alignment and the abandonment of the NS/Wabash main and the diamond with the SP/GM&O. Iles tower was located just to the left of the diamond crossing sitting in the southwest quadrant of the interlocker. Never once did I get a photo of a Kodachrome-painted SP unit leading, I guess it just wasn't meant to be.
