For this piece, my main goal was to depict the fact clearly, with simplicity, by focusing solely on the typography, constraining myself with one typeface.

 

To communicate that $23 Billion is spend on rust and corrosions, I made the figure '$23 Billion' rusty and corrosive (or made the rust and corrosion be of the figure '$23 Billion').

 

I could have made 'RUST & other CORROSIONS' in a similar manner, however it would have been too literal and would have taken the attention away from the fact I was trying to depict.
