37424 and 37422 were allocated a VST operation on 1 March 2022 which involved top and tailing a set of autoballasters that had been been cut out of the previous days Carlisle – Crewe departmental train (6K05) at Hellifield due - it seems - to brake issues.
Here 37422 is seen at the tail of the train; 6Z12, DRS’ 1040 Hellifield – Carlisle, in Garsdale near Skelton’s Gill. Apart from its fleet number and “Victorious” nameplates, the bodyside of 37422 also displays its previous number 37226, its former Stratford depot Cockney Sparrow motif and a micro B.R. double arrow logo.
