Wrong Way Round.
Having secured a decent shot of 55016 “erupting” under Holgate Bridge (see previous shot) I went back for more the very next day. My target train was (I think) the 1215 York – Kings Cross. A deltic was the usual motive power so I never bothered looking down to the station to check. I was dumfounded when the target train appeared behind a 47! Another train was approaching - which was quite common on this very busy stretch of line - but to my astonishment this train had a deltic on it.
55003 MELD heads what I assume to be a late running transpennine service to Liverpool which was overtaking the Kings Cross train.
Nice too, to catch a NBC liveried bus – I’m guessing - a York/West Yorkshire Eastern Coachworks bodied Bristol VRT.
