To the left of the loco, the small gap between the “McRat” and the bridge support pier has several points of interest:
Workington Main No.3’s down starting signal (partly obscured) above Derwent Junctions distant can just be seen, off for a class 108 dmu that will precede the freight to Carlisle.
Also a lamp post, electrically lit, but clearly at one time illuminated by town gas.
Then beyond the end of the platform, you can just make out the tail end of 27045’s train.
Behind that - if you look really carefully – you can make out Workington Main No.2 signal box.
On the right of the shot the down reception semaphore that will release the freight. Both those signals lost their accompanying distant arms when Derwent Junction box closed in 1988.
