In the Lamasary in Beijing, a favourite spot of mine for people watching, I saw this young lady whose need to check her messages, I thought, was momentarily more important than the prayer wheel that she was perfunctorily spinning. Then it struck me that when it comes to devotions, there is probably "an app for that", and she was following instructions.
