60183 rescale - comparison
Calling my rescale of the 60183 Heavy Cargo Transport done.
The truck itself is based on a Scania 8x4 chassis with my standard detailing across the model, plus some added detail behind the cab for the fuel and compressed air tanks, and exhaust. The truck can either carry a chain box for heavy haulage specific equipment on the fifth wheel or alternatively any of my previous trailers can attach there.
The dolly is an improvement on an old table scrap design that I'd never had a good use for. It has a decent connection point where it hitches to the truck, however this does tend to pop out after repeated hard turns. And again, the fifth wheel works with any of my trailers.
The trailer is a "simple" design based on a detachable gooseneck system, which I guess is what the original set was aiming for. The deck area of the trailer is 6x12 studs but can be extended out up to 8x19. The oversize load flags on the rear of the trailer can also be extended outwards to reflect the width of the trailer and load. While it's not the strongest build I've put together, but I'm more than happy with this just being a display model.
The helicopter was just an older build that I had handy but it does fit with the original set. This is based on a Eurocopter AS350 Squirrel in NSW Rural Fire Service livery.
