Mantle Rock
With a span of 154 feet, Mantle Rock has the longest span of any arch or natural bridge east of the Rocky Mountains. It also is the location of a very sad part of American history. It is on the Trail of Tears, the route the Cherokee took during their forced relocation from North Carolina to Oklahoma. During the winter of 1838-39, they stayed here where many perished.
