Mason bee male

Mason bees like this male in the genus Osmia, are solitary bees. Each female makes her own nest, usually in pre-existing cavities or tunnels that they partition into cells along the length of the cavity. Both genders feed on nectar, but only the females gather pollen as well, storing it as food for their offspring.
