Thoughtful study of this document will suggest that the police were out to get the landlord of the Walkford Hotel, Walkford, there situate.

 

Edgar, my father-in-law, was one of the people from SRDE who were attending a function there on the memorable day in 1950. They all got summonses, and the local paper, with journalistic hyperbole, ran the headline "Famous scientists in drink raid!"

 

I suppose I will have to throw this away now I've digitised it. It's nice to think that Edgar's ashes lie just down the road from the Walkford Hotel.
