Hangar on
This is the Book Barn. I've visited before on my way to Glastonbury and have never found it anything but overwhelmingly strength sapping. It is situated not so much in a picturesque barn but in a bloddy great aircraft hangar. You enter with hope in your heart and leave with angina. There are just too may books. Or rather, too many bad books. If you are looking for something rare and interesting prepare to be massively disappointed or hugely wallet bashed. In my opinion it has some of the saddest loneliest books I've ever seen...and I've seen plenty It does however boast a rather delightful selection of Eastern European gals manning the counters. I have no idea how they got here in the middle of nowhere (which it is) perhaps they are building a new Berlin Wall from the remindered stock? Anyway, I still think it's worth visiting. Once. Just for the spectacle and the rush of disappointment. It is the bumblebee of bookshops. I have no idea how it keeps going, but against all expectations it does!
