its speech in the grace of its gliding, its survival against water,

its berth in harbor, its rightness in storm. cuts through water,

 

splashes its outer surprise. lives in an inner hold, a keep, a barrens.

solitude inside walls separating wakefulness from sleep.

silence inside sorrow and anger. only crying, the sounds of clocks, sex,

 

down the corridor, inside cells, intrudes. human spirit on a leash, not trained.

cannot remember the word “trainable”, must search for it. train: one car after the other;

train: leaving. distant sound limited to tracks, unless derailed.
