Red Racer Pt. 32 (2/2)
The bullets fired from the gun Linda is holding travel ever closer to my chest. I can’t move. Hunter has me held completely immobile. I close my eyes and focus on moving. Every ounce of strength I can muster needs to be enough for me to break free from Hunter’s grasp. I need to focus!

(8 years ago, Wally’s first encounter with Captain Cold)
“Ah, poor Kid Flash stuck in ice and no way to get out. Not even the Flash is here to help you.”
“Think again!” Barry yells as the ice slowly begins to rise up over my chest. I knew he wouldn’t be far behind me. Though I hate that he doesn’t completely trust me, I am thankful that he followed me this time. Without his distrust, today may have actually been my last day. “Snart, you’re under arrest for multiple counts of theft and two charges of murder.”
“Nice to see the whole Flash family together. Now you can die together.” Captain Cold aims his freeze ray at Barry and pulls the trigger. Within an instant Barry is… Wait, how? Barry got his feet trapped in two blocks of ice. How did that even happen?
”Let us go!” I yell as Captain Cold jumps down from the platform he stood on. He laughs as he gets closer to me.
“Before I go, let’s see who’s underneath these masks.” Captain Cold says with a devious smirk on his face. He walks over to Barry. Unfortunately, the ice blocks around Barry have already formed around Barry’s arms, making a strike against Captain Cold null and void. As Snart begins to lift up Barry’s mask, a blur of yellow lightning emits from the ice block Barry is in. Suddenly, Barry is holding Snart by his neck.
”Woah!”
Time passes and Snart is taken into Iron Heights. Barry and I are back at his apartment. He grabs a couple of his specially made protein bars from the pantry and throws one to me.
”So how did you do that?” I ask as I unwrap the bar from its wrapper.
“I vibrated to the frequency of the ice and ‘slid’ out from the block.” He says as he takes a bite form his bar.
”Can you teach me?”

I focus and begin to vibrate my body at immense speeds. I become almost invisible to the human eye as I pass through hunter’s arms. Quickly, I take Hunter and throw him to the ground. He quickly gets back up, but as he does the two bullets Linda fired rip through his back. He quickly shows surprise on his face.
”No!” I yell as I run to his side. He quickly drops to the ground and I kneel by his side. I grab his hand and quickly check for a pulse. Linda runs over to my side.
”I thought he died.” She must have noticed it was Hunter. I look up to her as a tear runs down my cheek.
”So did I.”
”I didn’t know it was him. Is he still breathing? Should I call an ambulance?” Linda quickly answers. She begins to pull out her phone from her pocket.
“No.” I say as I take my hand from his wrist. ”He’s not breathing.”
I take the scythe from his hand. As I do so, a large blast of lightning strikes Hunter’s body. He’s gone as quickly as he arrived.
”Where’d he go?” Linda asks. I, with no real answer, am forced to make a cliché answer.
“That’s a long story.” She places her hand on my shoulder
“You want to talk over a cup of tea? I made some at home and I think it still may be a little hot.” I crack a slight smile and look at her.
“That sounds nice.” I say. I look down at the scythe and then grab Linda around the waste. I pick her up and race us both back to our apartment. Quickly, set her down on the couch and I run into our room and change into normal clothes. I make my way back into the living room and she stands up from her seat.
“Did you just?”
”Do you mind?”
“Not at all. Quite fun, actually.” She says as she picks up her cup of tea and takes a sip. She smiles as she brings the cup down from her lips. “Ah, it’s still warm.”
We both take a seat next to each other on the couch. I pick up my cup and the television remote. With a click, the television turns on and I softly elbow Linda on her arm.
”I hope you don’t mind, I put the scythe atop the shelf underneath the tv.” I say as I take a sip from my cup of tea.
”No, that’s fine.” Linda answers as she leans closer to me and wraps her arm around mine.
“Good.” I quietly say as I take another sip from my cup…
