Canadian Pacific 3GS21B genset switcher

Finally posting another engine.

This has actually been cooking since early 2024. Main reason why it didn't get finished earlier was the fact that I wanted to make use of the new 5404 slope, which enabled me to get an incredibly simple, yet prototypical solution for the nose and back section, but in red it only got released a few months ago.

The model originally existed briefly as a 9V powered version, but I quickly decided to equip it with Powered Up and drop my 9V endeavors altogether. Simply not worth doing 9V anymore, as I can't build prototypical trucks and the parts situation around 9V compatible metal rails is basically a disaster, especially with switches. Never available, ridiculous prices. In the end it's simply easier and cheaper to use Powered Up for all my models to come. My classic BNSF GP38-2 lashup will get that treatment at some point, too.

Managed to cram two PUp L-motors in there, as well as the city hub of course. Barely fits due to the short fuel tank and the relatively low hood, but I made it work. The hub runs on PyBricks with the train control script for smooth acceleration and braking.

I'm currently using injection molded MS size wheels bought at HA bricks, but honestly can't recommend them, as all of them are seriously out of balance. Probably an issue with the mold they're using. They'll soon be replaced with 3D printed wheels from Brick Train Depot. I've been using those for my previous engines without any issues at all.

Neodymium magnet couplers from HA bricks and self-printed decals.

All in all, very happy with the result. Pulls like an absolute beast, too.
