The Warsaw Uprising Museum (Muzeum Powstania Warszawskiego) is—rightly so—one of the most visited museums in the Polish capital. Here, you can gain a detailed insight into the most brutal and tragic days of Poland's history between August and October 1944. The museum features photographs, narratives, maps, film footage, weaponry, and other artifacts related to the conflict.
This is the view you wouldn't want to have of an MG-42 machine gun—probably the most famous of World War II. It was used by both sides during the Warsaw Uprising.
This photo is part of a trip through central Poland, focused especially on the most tragic moments of the Holocaust and World War II, which devastated Poland like few places, but which at the same time contrasts with the incredible rebirth of the country up to the present day.
