Escenaris on fou filmada el 2001 la obra mestra de Roman Polanski: El Pianista. Tot i que en part fou filmada als famosos estudis Babelsberg de Berlin, Polanski va trobar racons intactes de Varsòvia on rodar la pel·licula força "in situ".
Bona part de les escenes filmades a Varsòvia de fet ho foren al barri de Praga-Polnoc, a la riba oriental del Vístula. Aquest barri va caure en mans sovietiques abans els nazis destruissin tot el que pogueren de la ciutat la tardor de 1944, i per tant conserva l'aire autentic de l'època. La filmació es centrà als carrers Stalowa, Konopacka i Mała. Aquí en concret podeu veure el mateix angle on reproduiren el pas entre el ghetto gran i el ghetto petit, tant amb reixes com amb el pont de fusta. El lloc real el vaig visitar al barri de Wola, al carrer Chłodna. Aquí el carrer Stalowa era ideal, ja que té línia de tramvia i varen afegir-ne de autentics, suposo peces de museu. Quan jo vaig ser-hi en passaven de no tant antics (tot i que alguns com aquest tenen ja una edat...).
Aquesta foto forma part de tot un viatge pel centre de Polònia, enfocat especialment en els més tragics moments del Holocaust i la II Guerra Mundial, que esclafà Polonia com pocs llocs, però que alhora contrasta amb l'increible renaixement del país fins al moment actual.

Scenes where Roman Polanski's masterpiece The Pianist was filmed in 2001. Although it was partly filmed at the famous Babelsberg Studios in Berlin, Polanski found untouched corners of Warsaw where he could shoot the film "in situ".
A large part of the scenes filmed in Warsaw were in fact filmed in the Praga-Polnoc district, on the eastern bank of the Vistula River. This district fell into Soviet hands before the Nazis destroyed everything they could of the city in the autumn of 1944, and therefore retains the authentic atmosphere of the time. The filming focused on Stalowa, Konopacka and Mała streets. Here in particular you can see the same angle where they reproduced the passage between the large and small ghettos, both with iron gates and later with the wooden bridge. I had visited the real place in the Wola district, on Chłodna street.
Here, filming in Stalowa street was ideal for Polanski, as it has real tramway rails, so they could use vintage trams to great efect in many scenes. When I took this picture a not-so-old tramway passed through to give some context.

Quan jo vaig ser-hi en passaven de no tant antics (tot i que alguns com aquest tenen ja una edat...).
