Bridge Street, Dollar old postcard c.1970
Another weekend at home, so time for a bit of virtual travelling. Some sunny days in Scotland in this batch.
I like this one, a nice clear shot of the cars and two garages. Particularly pleasing to see two cars in that DSL...G series, neither appear to have made it beyond the end of the '70s as they're not on DVLA, nor is the red Mini van (if I'm reading the plate right as CSL 536F).
The Esso sign on the garage nearest to us was obvious when I bought the card. Looks like they were a Fiat agent as well, would be interesting to see if they're on an old dealer listing. The premises are now a bridal shop and have been since at least 2009.
Staying at this end of the road, this is the Streetview shot: goo.gl/maps/km4QmRT9XzgZPgtM7 I've gone for 2009 as it shows a white Vauxhall Astra where the Viva HB was parked.
Neither A. Muckersie & Son nor VG Foodstore occupy the shops nearest to us nowadays, although both are still commercial premises.
It wasn't until I looked more closely that I saw the Shell sign further up the road. The 1974 OS map shows a garage at No. 74, but that site had been redeveloped by 2004 according to Google Earth. Streetview location here: goo.gl/maps/yRww7om2TvL7sez58 With bonus Toyota MR2.
Unsent card published by J.B. White Ltd, ref. R1802.
