1993 Lexus LS400, L400WAD (2003)
John Powell photo.
Turns out that Mr Powell got a shot of what turned out to be a moderately famous car. This LS400 was apparently used in the 2008 "Clarkson Thriller" DVD (not something I've seen, or ever want to watch). Available to buy here: www.dukevideo.com/prd2EDVD0358/Clarkson-Thriller-DVD
According to IMCDB, L400WAD did survive and an alternative was used for the scene where it was apparently destroyed: www.imcdb.org/vehicle_201717-Lexus-LS-400-UCF10-II-1993.html
It's no longer listed on DVLA, suggesting a Certificate of Destruction has been issued, but it does show up on the MoT website with its last test being carried out in 2014 (when it's listed as being orange). Quite a lengthy failure list on some of its tests, and a message on IMCDB suggests it was a project of some sort.
Photo taken when it was just a smart road car on 17/5/03 at Bridge Inn, Valley Road, Cinderford.
