Ruffled, shirred, knit Tea Party Bloomers
size 6- 12m Tea Party bloomers made from black knit fabric reclaimed from old yoga pants. I added 3 ruffles to the back although they are hard to see :) instead of finishing the legs and waistband with elastic I chose to do 3 layers of shirring on the leg openings and four on the waist. I removed half an inch height from the top of the front and back pieces to account for the lack of turnover. I finished the edges with a lettuce hem on the overlocker by stretching the fabric as i did a rolled hem. I feel this adds to the ruffley look. The shirring feels lovley and soft while adding lots of stretch. I ruffled the three ruffles with elastic thread and sewed them on with the twin needle, next time I'll probably sew the ruffles on with elastic thread to keep the ruffliness.
