French Journal Day 20 (Travel Diary Day 100)

100 days of writing this journal – wonderful! To celebrate it, I convinced myself that I had meningitis.
My neck hurt this morning. I checked for symptoms on the internet. I’ve probably got another few days left in me according the medical site.
It’s been a while since I checked my symptoms online. Last time it turned out I had Parkinson’s again.
This year I’ve had cancer (a few times), MS, rabies (Rachel’s fault), flu (that one was real), twitchy eye syndrome that I couldn’t diagnose, and various mild ailments that had the potential to become much more serious.
The sun is shining here, but still no Betsy. French mechanics really aren’t in a hurry. I wonder what she’s doing right now?
I need her for tomorrow. I’ve planned a load of beautiful spots to photograph and the weather looks promising.
We fed the dogs this morning, as we do every morning, and let the girls out to do their business while Byron was finishing up. He ate his grub, looked around, walked 2 metres and had a massive number two on the floor. Cleaning it up, I was close to vomiting.
That’s not how a person should start their day. I hadn’t even drank a coffee at that point.
Today’s Photo – The Rays of Light
Every morning I walk up the long gravel path to open the main gates with a coffee in my hand, and every morning I look for photo-worthy scenes. Most mornings there’s a bit of residue colour in the sky from the partially hidden sunrise. I knew the sun rose behind this particular tree, and I’d been hoping for the last seven days that I’d see it at some point.
After cleaning up Byron’s poop, I made my way to the gate slightly later than usual. On my return journey, I looked up and saw what I’d been waiting a week for. Kn0wing I’d only have a few minutes left to capture it, I sprinted back to the house, got my gear and ran back. The sun was almost free from the tree when I managed to take the shot.
This is actually the first ever HDR image I’ve published on any site that wasn’t processed using Photomatix. I used Oloneo, and was very pleasantly surprised. It was so intuitive. I have to really test it out soon and write a review on HDR One before I can decide if I prefer it to Photomatix.
After tone mapping the photo, I did actually manually blend some of the original exposures into the final image, so this isn’t purely Oloneo.
