Der Basstölpel (Morus bassanus) ist ein gänsegroßer Meeresvogel aus der Familie der Tölpel.
Seit 1991 ist der Basstölpel auch Brutvogel auf Helgoland. Typisch für den Basstölpel sind große Kolonien, in der mehrere tausend Brutpaare ihr jeweiliges Junges heranziehen.
