Childhood Memories

Growing up in northern Ontario (Sudbury) and having a father who was a part owner and full time operator of a sporting goods store, my four brothers and I spent many hours over the years on outdoor hockey rinks playing for the local teams. As a matter of fact, mom and dad would make sure each winter that we had our own backyard rink that was the scene of many epic neighbourhood hockey games.

As we grew older my brothers and I headed off in different directions but would always make an effort to get back together especially during a family hockey tournament that was held each winter just outside of Sudbury. It was a chance to re-connect with each other, our families, cousins, aunts, and uncles.....and also with the game that we had all played and loved since early childhood so many years ago.

This photo, (picture of a picture) as grainy and aged as it appears, was taken right after one of the family tournament games. (seems like we were all looking at different cameras :) There I am, second from the left sitting beside my brother Bob (far left) who was good enough to receive a full four year hockey scholarship at Michigan State University.

The family tournament stopped being held several years ago but for us and for me it's a very special childhood memory that I will always cherish.
