Entrance of the main building with large 12m diameter 34ton heavy dome housing the 0.487m Merz-Repsold "grande lunette" at the Observatory of Strasbourg - France. In 1881 the refractor was Germany's largest telescope and after WW II the achromatic lenses were checked by French optician Jean Texereau. Note the decorative Helios head in the triangle of this building by Hermann Eggert.
