Archeaologists uncover remnants of an Animated Man during the stripping of a billboard. Applications for grants are being written to fund investigations of billboards and other advertising venues across the city. Etymologists are being brought in to determine the significance of the "TE" in the lower right quadrant and the "O" in the upper right. Conjecture about the symbol in the upper left quadrant are wide and speculative at this time. Possible links to George Jetson, Barney Rubble, Ranger Smith, as well as other Hanna Barbara characters, have been posited but are also speculative at best.
Needless to say, there is a palpable excitement in the art and urban archeaology commmunities. One local cartoonist, art school graduate, and paroled graffiti artist believes, "If confirmed, theories could extend well beyond advertising and reveal important things about the two dimensional history of humanity. Links could go all the way back to Michelangelo, Rembrant, Giotto, even the cave paintings of Lascaux. Hell, I'm even seeing signs of it in my own sketchbook."
