YC-14

This is one very cool place - the official name is Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Center (AMARC) but it is commonly known as an aircraft boneyard. There are several thousand airplanes here, mostly military, in various conditions - some are mothballed for potential future service, some are used for spare parts, while others are being demolished due to various treaty obligations.

AMARC is adjacent to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. The only way to visit it is to take a tour that leaves from the Pima Air and Space Museum. The boneyard is great to see but hard to photograph - you are in a bus with highly polarized window, the bus doesn't stop, you can't get off, and to shoot out of the other side of the bus you have to shoot around people. In spite of the that I loved how the photos turned out.

I was able to check out this amazing place in February 2011. If you are in the Tucson area you should check it out!
