Monuments on the Union positions on Cemetery Ridge
I grew up a few hours away from Gettysburg and have visited the battlefield multiple times. It never gets old. Like Arlington National Cemetery is it a vivid reminder of our history. This was my wife's first visit; we already had a long day and she was exhausted so we didn't get to spend as much time walking around as I would like. Still, we got to see a lot.
On this trip we visited the Confederate positions on Seminary Ridge and then looped around to the Union positions on Cemetery Ridge. It's always moving to think about what happened here back in July 1863; especially how history would/could have changed if the Confederates had won.
