13th Century building Evesham

Evesham is a small town in the Cotswolds about ten miles from where we live. A number of the houses are 17th century but this is one of the oldest. In the foreground are "stocks" in which petty criminals were fastened by their feet in a seated position. Sometimes this attracted abuse or the throwing of eggs or rotten vegetables - happily not a practice engaged in for some time!
