Perception: Spatial Awareness

This piece focuses on ones changing perception when walking within a landscape . Using crates, I layered the sides in sheets of plastic and painted an abstract natural shapes on to them, creating a 3D painting. Drawing on the influence of Howard Hodgkin I included the framework of the crates within the piece. As a person’s view of the landscape changes depending on where you stand within it, so too is the viewer’s perception of the piece changed, depending on the angle at which they see it.
