Turquoise-browed Motmot

Turquoise-browed Motmot. The national bird of both Nicaragua and El Salvador. Both sexes have the long tail rackets. It is thought that wagging the rackets can silently communicate presence of a predator. They nest in excavated holes in riverbanks, similar to Kingfishers, and also in cenotes (sacred wells) in some Mayan ruins.
