Bamboo is a highly versatile and rapidly renewable resource that offers a broad range of livelihood applications. Its economic role is likely to expand at an accelerating rate as other forest resources become strained under climate change.
As part of the province's post-earthquake relief efforts, INBAR supported a sustainable recovery plan, working with the Sichuan Forestry Department, the EU Project Innovation Center and the Benelux Chamber of Commerce in China, to enhance eco-friendly, pro-poor bamboo production supply chains to support the region's reconstruction.
