The Victorian age was a genteel time when people played gentlemanly games such as croquet, where you hit your ball with a mallet through wickets and knock the croquet ball of your opponents out of the way if your ball hits it. You have to eventually hit a stake to score.
Doesn't sound so genteel when you explain it, does it? :-D
This gentleman seemed to be getting the hang of it. :-)
There was also a cricket match at Anderson Park as part of the Victorian Day celebration - cricket used to be played here regularly until 1921 - but I didn't get any pictures of that.
