Character’s History:
Lleryt’s desire to become a necromancer wasn’t spawned out of a traumatic, horrific incident, nor was it birthed from a great lust for power. In earnest, it was purely a finical and economic reason that he chose to study necromancy. His family wasn’t dirt poor but they barely made ends meet. When he was young, he showed a slight perchance for magic. Nothing spectacular, just a shower of sparks or changing the color of things, which earned a few extra copper or maybe a silver or two on a good day.
Anyways, his parents had saved up over the course of 10 years, that when he was 5, they were able to send him away to a small magic college for training. The first year was just to give him the background knowledge of the schools of magic. It was during a class on necromancy that he got struck with a rather interesting idea. Why not enslave the dead have put them to menial work? They can chop trees, sweep, mine for gems. It was all repetition.
From then on, he would dedicate himself to being a necromancer much to the dismay and woe of his parents. They couldn’t’ fathom how lucrative it was to use the dead for such jobs. They thought it unholy and wrong. So every time he tried to offer them money he had earned, they turned him away. In time, he was cast out of his home and village for his business. But while he was down on his luck, word had spread via rogues and bards about him. An illegal business syndicate contacted him and offered him employment. They arranged all underhanded dealing in several counties.
Their biggest contract ever came up when word reached them about the war at Ulharnoach and the treachery of the dwarves. He was sent out at once and after careful negotiations with Marthos himself, they were award exclusive mining rights to the dwarves’ old mines.
