Rhogogaster viridis 2 - Sawfly (Explored)
Probably one of my most favourite finds ever. I have found and photographed one of these before, but this is such a superb specimen and I have such a soft spot for Sawflies. Unfortunately I have not done this justice at all, which is a pity since I hold this beastie in such high regard. The shots on both this and the other series of these I loaded were taken with Optios W60 and WG-1 and one shot with the Canon. (Optio W10 - my favourite compact as you contacts know, was sadly out of action due to me inadvertantly deleting the entire card at the event, which I was unable to recover on the camera at the time, hence could not take further photos on that card/camera til I had attempted to do a recovery with software on the laptop at home - partly successful only, but better than nothing) (I hope I am hearing violins and sympathy and offers of hankies!) Anyway, back to the main plot. I did take over 30 photos of this gorgeous specimen in total before it flew off, 7 with Canon, but can't say I'm overjoyed at any of them in particular. I spotted this deep in long grass and persuaded it onto a finger to lift out, then caught a few shots while it co-operated, then transferred it onto a leaf where it sat for a further session for a couple of minutes. Check out Pog's pix later in the week as hopefully her shots will be far superior.
