The road bearing left was obstructed by large stone blocks placed by the interior ministry. Some of the youth (15 – 18 yrs. old, roughly) took to tossing rocks and debris over the wall - to what end is anyone’s guess. The road bearing right led to Qasr An-Nil road, which led directly to U.S. embassy. Since the road was far too wide for a
ny concreted obstructions, the interior ministry placed heavy concentrations of officers to hold protestors at bay. The officers mainly took to firing tear gas at protestors, and pelting them with rocks. The younger protestors responded in kind, pelting officers with rocks, and picking up tear gas canisters (which were still spewing gas) and lobbing them back at the cops.
