Roath Park 2021 2781

Roath Park, Cardiff, 31 January and 3 February 2021. Mellow winter sunshine illuminates the open stretch of water and the bridge beyond, but keeps the waterfall in the shade of trees, as it will be for most of the year. By the time the sun has risen high enough in the sky to reach here, the burgeoning leaves will obscure it.

This is the Roath Brook, which flows out of Roath Park Lake, to which it flows in as the Nant Fawr stream, whose source is near Cefn Onn, at the very northern edge of Cardiff. From Roath Park it heads through a succession of interlinked parklands towards its outflow into the Rhymney River. A footpath provides a near six mile 'rural' walk through an urban environment.
