Graph Editor
The graph editor shows several lines that represent attributes of the objects in your scene. When an attribute is keyframed, a black point appears at appropriate value and frame on the graph. Maya automatically connects attribute keyframes by a spline with ease-in and ease-out.
By selecting one or more keyframes, they become editable. Using the function buttons at the top of the screen, it is possible to alter the tangent of the spline, break the tangent, alter spline type and fine-tune connections between the keyframes.
Keyframes, and entire attributes, can be deleted from this view. Cleaning up the scene and potentially speeding up running of the scene. In this view keyframes can also be transformed to wherever needed and so animation can be altered in real time with great precision by this method.
Entire attribute graphs or even object graphs can be selected in full and then scaled in order to completely change the pacing of the animation without the laborious process of re-keyframing.
Using the graph editor in such a way drastically reduces the number of keyframes required, speeding up the animation process, cleanliness of the graph editor and ease of alteration to the animation.
