Animation Clips
EVALUATION:
Clip 1: Michaela O'Connor Static Trapeze
www.youtube.com/watch?v=InlP8gD1hrg
This clip is probably my favourite of the three - I think it would be good to animate because it shows very fluid full body movement, with the challenge of adding a feeling of momentum. I feel like it could be difficult to animate this smoothly, while also giving a feeling of weight to the character, and due to the speed of some of the movement. An added challenge would be needing to animate the movement of the trapeze itself (and model it).
Clip 2: Lilia Stepanova Commercial
www.youtube.com/watch?v=re4Mff7FhNc
This clip appeals to me a lot as an archer, and the movement is very controlled - however a lot of the subtlty of the movement is in the tension of the muscles, which would be difficult to show well with a simple character model. Again there is the added challenge of modelling the props, and getting the bow to move accurately and smoothly without intersecting with the characters toes would be a distraction from focusing on the character itself.
Clip 3: Carly Patterson Olympic Gymnastics
www.youtube.com/watch?v=LukpxzCw0w4
This clip has a lot of sharp movements which would be good to animate, and there is a lot of detail in the hand and foot positioning. There is also demonstration of weight and follow through after the jumps. Because it is quite rhythmic I think creating the animation with accurate timing would be an interesting challenge - I would need to have good graph editor control to make this work effectively!
