Jet Provost Cranwell

BAC Jet Provost at the entrance of R.A.F. Cranwell in Lincolnshire. RAF Cranwell is the home to the Royal Air Force College which is the equivalent to the Army's Sandhurst. Established in 1916 stationed at Cranwell included Sir Frank Whittle (inventor of the turbojet engine), T.E. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia), and Prince Charles did his Training here.

During WW II Hermann Goering ordered the Luftwaffe not to bomb RAF Cranwell as he wanted it as his headquarters if they won the war.
