Tea Tables at the Palace
Shortly after the war, the palace came under the direct administration of the prime minister's office, which ultimately turned it into the State Guest House in 1974. Recently, a concession van was permitted to operate at the front of the palace to offer tea, scones and an array of afternoon tea cakes and sandwiches on a tiered cake server. The full afternoon tea set has to be preordered but for for just a simple cup of tea and a scone plate, orders can be done directly. Despite the cool of the February air, it was still pleasant enough to have tea here. There is also a gift shop set up under a garden marquee.
