Day 424 - Day 059

“Demons cluttering around my face showing no emotion. Shackled by my sentence expecting no return.”

My Own Prison: Creed, My Own Prison

This is a rather dark song from Creed, touching in on the darker side of religion with judgment, doom, angels and demons. This song really sums a lot about the life of fear and what it’s like living under that fear… it’s a horrible part of life to live by and under.

The point to this song really is that we have the keys to freedom, but we keep ourselves shackled by fear- where love sets us free. I have been shackled and set free. Once we’re free we either live and experience life, or stay in one place… isn’t that still bound?

The lyrics paint such a wonderful imagery of judgment day- influence of angels and demons and all the religious imagery. The song being played in “Drop-D” always gives that little extra edge of Darkness to it. I am very glad that Creed reunited because they have a lot of talent… but I am hoping their follow up album is better than the last year release!

*** Artist Notes ***

The shackles are small Mandarin Orange cans painted silver chrome. Lighting was changed through Olympus Software.

Lyrics:

A court is in session A verdict is in

No appeal on the docket today, just my own sin

The walls are cold and pale the cage made of steel

Screams fill the room alone I drop and kneel

Silence now the sound my breath the only motion around

Demons cluttering around my face showing no emotion

Shackled by my sentence expecting no return

Here there is no penance my skin begins to burn

So I held my head up high hiding hate that burns inside which

only fuels there selfish pride

We're all held captive out from the sun

A sun that shines on only some

We the meek are all in one

I hear a thunder in the distance see a vision of a cross

I feel the pain that was given on that sad day of loss

A lion roars in the darkness only he holds the key

A light to free me from my burden and grant me life eternally

Should have been dead on a Sunday morning banging my head no time for

mourning - ain't got no time

I cry out to God seeking only his decision

Gabriel stands and confirms

I've created my own prison
